Good Morning Sunshine

[NOTE] - If you have not read about my 2.8km swim in the Virtual Harbour Crossing, you can read it over on DYHAXLIT.

Plan
  • Body Pump @ 6am
Actual
  • Body Pump @ 6:10am with Susan
    • 60mins
Today I woke up thinking that I would 'just go' to Magali's class. Then, I convinced myself to get down to the LM Auckland gym and try out Susan's. It's my best shot at getting a second FULL class into my routine. I enjoy Glen's Tuesday night class, but for that, I have to attend Mid's RPM class. Which I don't always want to do, I want to be able to do George's Step class from time to time.

And I'm so glad that I went. It was GREAT. Not only was I able to stay for all of the working tracks, I was even able to have a stretch and go to the bathroom before going back to my car to drive to work. Given the number of people at the gym, I figured there was no point in trying to get in line to use the showers at the gym. Better off to use the shower at work.

Eeeeeeeeee, I'm so happy that I managed to get another class in at that weight - first thing in the morning too, a time that has been traditionally problematic for my lower back.

I'm quite excited at the progress that's been made over the last few weeks. My back has been able to carry much more weight without getting anywhere near as sore as it used to. I can feel my muscles working more than my back pain, which is AWESOME.

Ordinarily, on a Monday evening I would go to Body Balance. I want to go, but I'm not sure it's a good idea. Simply because of how tired I am and how many accidents I've almost caused on the roads.

Anyways - I was surprised by the buzz in the morning class. That class, by FAR is the most energetic 6-in-the-morning class I've ever come across. Never mind that there's a good amount of people there - though it's not as frenetic as the evening classes are. (There's always 1 kilo plates left on the racks, thank goodness.) In fact, I was surprised that I even knew a couple of people there.

Firstly, when I walked in, the first person I saw all set up in the middle of the floor was my physio. Then, after I'd gotten myself all set up, I thought to myself, "I wonder if Judes will come along to this class..." Not two minutes later, guess who walked in :-D

A great way to begin the week, methinks. Hopefully this week will be much better than the last.

I didn’t see you there in Susan’s class, probably because I’m not used to getting up that early to train and I wasn’t fully awake yet! Susan is the only instructor that motivates me to make the effort to attend 6am classes! I hope to make it into my regular workout routine!

I can’t seem to get enough of the shoulder track from BP69! The perk of doing Susan’s class is I get to do the new stuff even after they have been filmed! :)

It has been 2-3 years since the last time I trained at 6am! I wonder does training at 6am affect your energy level throughout the day?

I’m trying to do as many classes as I can before I leave for my holiday on Friday… So on Monday I did Body Pump at 6.10am with Susan, Body Circuit at 5.15pm and Body Step at 6.30pm both with George! I was exhausted half way through Step class! How did you manage to train 3 hours a day in the past?

Hahhaha, I don't think I was fully awake either - and a roundabout way, I was lazy and couldn't be bothered walking across the room to say hello (Yet I was bothered to do an hour of Body Pump? I'm yet to determine how that works!)

I find that at first, 6am training is tiring, but it does improve your energy levels when you approach the rest of the day. Though the way you respond naturally, differs from person to person.

And I LOVE that shoulder track too! BP67 and 69 have wicked shoulder tracks :-D

As for how I managed to train for three hours a day in the past - I guess 'passion got me through'. Sometimes the three hours was staggered, other times it was consecutive, but I always enjoyed it far more than any other alternative activity (eg: vacuuming, ironing... bleh!) that I would be more than happy to keep on going :-D

I'm hoping to reintroduce some of those days soon, now that my ankle is doing better. Are you doing Step tonight? Hope to see you there :-)

Thanks for sharing your insight! My friends hardly ever workout at all, so I don’t have many people I can talk to about training!

Yep, I plan to do George’s Step class tonight! I must be crazy, I’m planning to do 17 hours of training in 14 days! Trying to make up for the 3 weeks I’ll be away in Taiwan!

My friends hardly work out at all either, so it's great to have someone to talk to about training and fitness etc. :-D (I reckon that's also why folk like ourselves get along so well with our personal trainers, since they HAVE to talk to us about training unlike the other people we interact with!)

See you in Step! :-D It'll be a competition to see who's more tired; I think I'll be hitting the sauna instead of the weights this time around.

And eeeee, Taiwan! No wonder you're trying to cram in as much as possible before you leave :-D
